Stock Preparation

The manufacture of paper starts with the stock preparation, that is a mass of fibrous material suspended in water, which is then poured on the continuous machine's wire and processed until the paper is obtained.

Depending on the type of paper you want to make, a different kind of stock shall be prepared, but generally it contains virgin cellulose fibre or secondary fibre (recycled waste paper) suspended in water and chemical products.

The machineries involve in this process are:

• Pulper, turns into pulp the mixture of water, cellulose (waste paper) and chemical products,
• Disc refiner, has the task to open further the fibres, thus favoring the entry of water,
• Deflaker, has to break any lump or cellulose knot, still not pulped, by means of a rotor and a stator disc,
• High density cleaner, thanks to the different specific weights of the elements, is able to separate potential extraneous components from the stock itself,
• Headbox screen, is used for a further and final treatment of the stock before it reaches the headbox's header,
• Broke pulper, is meant to gather the broke paper from the continuous machine, that otherwise would get wasted, and re-enter it into the production cycle as stock
